"The paintings titled “Dibirdibi Country” refer to a group of places on the eastern part of the island. Dibirdibi is name of the Rock Cod ancestor whose life and journeys throughout the Island are the subject of numerous songs, dances, and stories in the Kaidilt tradition. Drawing on a vast range of experiences and related places, these paintings offer some of the most intimate views of Sally’s memories of her family and homeland. Sally painted this subject more than any other in her career." (Salon 94, New York, Frieze Masters London Catalogue 2025)
