“Barlooban (or Barluban), ‘place of the flat rock’, is also known as Motor Car Yard because an old car that broke down was left there for a long time. It is near the ngarranggarni home of wawooleny, the frill-necked lizard or ‘blanket’ lizard and girrganyji, the brown flacon. The dreamtime frill-necked lizard is a small single rock standing high on the end of a hill near Motor Car Yard. The cave camped in is further along on the same hill.” (Linda Michael, Paddy Bedford, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, 2006, p. 132)

"The figure rising from the bottom left-hand side of Blanket Lizard – Motor Car Yard (2004) is an unusual representation of Wawooleny – here he is suspended, drawn upwards by the surrounding halo within the composition. The vertical landscape is the focus of his gaze in lament for the battle lost." (Vanessa Merlino, Head of Research, D’Lan Contemporary)
