The Guardian article reports that the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) will launch the largest international exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art in 2025, beginning at Washington DC’s National Gallery of Art before touring North America for three years. Titled The Stars We Do Not See: Australian Indigenous Art, the show will feature more than 200 works spanning from the 19th century to today, including masterpieces by Emily Kam Kngwarray, Albert Namatjira, Rover Thomas, and Sally Gabori. Curator Myles Russell-Cook acknowledges the “impossible task” of capturing the diversity of First Nations art, but the exhibition will present a wide range of works—from bark paintings to neon installations—that reflect the depth, innovation, and resilience of Indigenous culture. Highlights include Kngwarray’s monumental Big Yam Dreaming and politically charged contemporary pieces by Richard Bell and Destiny Deacon, resonating with global audiences on themes of identity, activism, and shared histories of struggle
